BERLIN (March 13 - April 18, 2009) - The Connecticut Cabaret Theatre is pleased to announce its production of the Anne Meara's dramatic comedy "AFTER-PLAY", directed by Kris McMurray.

Anne Meara's 1996 serio-comedy "AFTER-PLAY", zeroes in on two New York City couples, the Gutemans and the Shredmans, who take in a play, then have a late-night dinner and drinks at one of the trendiest new spots in Manhattan, where the action of the story begins. Ostensibly a chance for the quartet to discuss the play they've just seen, Meara uses this framework as an excuse to dig into the back-story not only of how the two couples relate but of each individual's triumphs and setbacks relating to career, children, previous marriages, health issues, and more. A third couple enters only to throw fuel on an already growing fire. Emotions run ragged. All the while, we come to realize that the gentle and patient - and some would say magical - waiter, perhaps maybe an angel, lightly underscores the point of the play...that all of the characters are recently dead and that this After-Play is, in reality, the afterlife.

The Cabaret has assembled an amazingly talented cast. Barbara Horan, Marsha Karp, Russell Fish and Dave Wall come together to create the dual couples in which the show revolves around. Individually they each bring a unique spark to the stage, and yet all together they set the show on fire. Emotions run up and down with laughter, tears, anger and happiness. They share memories and regrets. Things we all may be able to relate to. A third couple, played by Rachel West and Michael Gilbride, throw fuel onto that fire bringing the stories to a whole other level. Meanwhile, Troy Walcott plays the mysterious waiter that seems to have a magical hand in everything. All in all, this show is one not to miss.

The fine production staff includes Kris McMurray, Artistic Director, Matthew Collin Marrero,Public Relations Director and Resident Set Designer, Barbara Norman, Box Office Manager, Karen Buck, Stage Manager &Matthew Collin Marrero, Light& Sound Technician.
